I have been stigmatized, Hakimi says on rape allegations

Desk Report:

Achraf Hakimi has always denied the rape allegations against him. The star defender opened up about the issue once again. He said that he was stigmatized by being accused of rape.

In an interview with Canal Plus, Hakimi said, “I have never been so hurt in the past. It was a difficult time for me and it still is. Because when you write lie after lie, it becomes a hardship for my family. My children are still young. They don’t know how to use the internet. But one day they will find out about this. It will not be pleasant for them and me to see such false news. I would not wish this on anyone.”

Hakimi claims that the rape drama was staged to blackmail him, “I know that the allegations that were made are false. I know what kind of person I am. I did nothing and I would never do it to me. I was always under the police’s watch on the matter. I even spoke to them to describe the incident. They have my DNA. As a footballer, I know what kind of incidents I have to face. For example, girls come to us. I have actually been blackmailed. We are people from the football world. That is why many people want to take advantage of it.’

According to the allegation, on February 25, 2023, Hakimi called a woman to his house in the absence of his wife and children. Then he forcibly raped the woman. Later, with the help of a friend, the woman was rescued from Hakimi. She went to the police station and reported the matter. The police questioned her. Although the woman did not want to make a formal complaint about the matter, the prosecutors decided to file charges against Hakimi. Earlier last month, the news agency AFP reported that French prosecutors had demanded the trial of the Moroccan footballer. However, Hakimi said that the matter was progressing through legal proceedings on his own.
